Psychotherapy & Music therapy

Becoming Through Sound offers individual/group sessions utilizing psychotherapy and/or music therapy as it feels relevant to what's going on for you. Music and the arts are simply potential resources to be used within our work together and are not a requirement.


We offer services to children, adolescents, adults, and older adults, providing a collaborative space where we can foster ways of living that bring you healing, joy, and peace, even as you might be be processing difficult and painful experiences. Becoming Through Sound believes that we are in constant states of becoming better and more authentic versions of ourselves, if we allow ourselves to do so. We aim to be a queer/LGBTQIA+, body, polyamory/consensual non-monogamy, disabled, and gender affirmative space.


Psychotherapy provides you with the space to process a myriad of complicated issues, events, experiences, and memories for the purpose of fostering creative and healthy change so that we may experience our lives more fully. It provides an opportunity to better and more deeply understand oneself, as well as any struggles or difficulties you may be experiencing. Psychotherapy is a joint effort between both the therapist and the client. Progress and success may vary depending upon the particular struggles or issues being addressed, as well as many other factors. As a pre-licensed professional, Maevon will tailor your therapy to your individual needs. 


Music therapy is an established health profession where music is used within a therapeutic relationship to support a wide variety of healthcare needs, dependent upon the person. Focused on the overarching goal of improving quality of life and wellbeing, music therapy can involve creating, moving to, listening to, and/or talking about music, such as: 

  • songwriting
  • lyric/song analysis
  • improvisation
  • singing and vocalizing
  • active music-making
  • music and relaxation-based techniques
  • use of other forms of creative expression (e.g., poetry, art, etc.)

These creative experiences are often processed mutually within the therapeutic space to gain deeper understanding, make meaning, and relate these discoveries to our everyday lives.


Individual sessions

In individual sessions, you'll be able to work one on one with Maevon, who will support your particular needs through a more personalized session. Maevon will work with you to engage in the type of therapy that would best fit your needs.

Group sessions

Group sessions provide a therapeutic space where members can mutually support each other, collectively offering valuable insight grounded in both similar and different lived experiences. Current group spaces being provided include:

"Safe 'n Sound: Youth Group" is a music therapy group that provides space for queer, trans, nonbinary, and/or questioning youth ages 14-18 to explore identity, LGBTQIA+ themes, and everyday life through music and the arts.


Meets every other Thursday from 7pm - 8pm EST.

"Beyond: Adults Exploring Gender and Identity" is therapeutic group that provides space for adults to explore their gender and identity, with music and the arts being included as desired by participants.

All services are currently being offered through virtual platforms (such as Zoom) due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Although in-person sessions will eventually resume for those who are interested in these, virtual options will continue to be available even after the COVID-19 pandemic.
