"Feeling connected with your therapist is one of the most important parts of any journey of self-exploration. In both the music psychotherapy and gender affirming voicework that I do, I use a collaborative, nonpathologizing, resource-oriented music therapy approach that fosters creative healing spaces for personal growth. Basically, this means that while I certainly bring my knowledge, resources, and lived experiences into the therapy space, I strive to honor your expertise of who you are as a person and your own strengths and resources. Together, we work to foster the kind of life that you want to be living, whether that's related to your own mental health and/or accessing and embodying a more affirming singing/speaking voice. I utilize a variety of models/theories such as Internal Family Systems, Feminist Theory, Queer Theory, Humanistic Therapy, and Resource-Oriented Music Therapy. If this sounds like what you've looking for, reach out today!"
More about me: "I am a board certified music therapist and pre-licensed professional counselor under the direct supervision of Demeko Freeman, LPC, MMT, MT-BC. I am a curious person and know that there is always more to learn, so I engage in ongoing personal and professional development to be as culturally sustaining, affirming, and informed as I can be. My social locators are white, nonbinary genderqueer, queer, small fat, polyamorous, kinky, non-disabled, and neurotypical. When not in the office, I enjoy reading, cooking, listening to music, the occasional tarot card reading, and spending time with my partner and kitty cats. I'm passionate about social justice and activism and am plugged into community spaces to foster a more just and humane world for all."

about music psychotherapy:
"Maevon has helped me so much with getting to know myself and the different aspects of who I am. I've never been more comfortable in my own skin than I am today. At first I was nervous to use music in our sessions, but Maevon made it really easy. I'd never played any instruments before, but I've now written several songs about my experiences and got to express what I've been going through for years. Doing this helped me to find peace and healing. That has been such a powerful and healing experience. Thanks, Maevon, for making this process so welcoming and allowing me to explore my creativity and myself and to finally find peace!"

about gender affirming voicework:
"Maevon was truly [a] wonderful coach! They were knowledgeable in voicework in general but were still able to break it down into terms I could easily understand. They were incredibly kind, patient and resourceful in their methods and very open to what I wanted to work on at any point. I would absolutely recommend Maevon and their approach to anyone undergoing a transition and looking to work on changing their voice!"

about gender affirming voicework:
"Maevon was so supportive, experienced, and welcoming! As a nonbinary afab person, it was really helpful to learn how to use my voice in so many different ways so that down the road I can continue to experiment with my voice if I want. I wanted a voice that could shift and change with my gender expression, and since working with Maevon, I've developed the skills to do that!"

about gender affirming voicework:
"Just hearing my own voice take on a more feminine pitch and resonance makes me extremely euphoric and finally happy about my voice. I went from hating my low sounding masculine voice to absolutely loving my voice and I feel really happy to have finally found my authentic voice. Thanks again Maevon for helping me find my true voice!!"

about gender affirming voicework:
"Maevon was an incredible teacher for voice feminization! They are extremely knowledgeable about the anatomy of voice, and how to manipulate it. The improvement was slow at first, but after a little over a year I was able to achieve a female-passing voice with their advice and encouragement! Advice I would give to other transfems working on their voices: it takes a lot of practice, and listening to recordings (which I know is scary) helps more than you can imagine."
